Communion

Communion Information

General Information:

Communion is conducted as a regular part of the Mass.  For information about bringing communion to the sick or home-bound, contact the Office at 757-877-5021

First Communion:

Children begin their preparation for First Communion when they have entered the second grade. Children should be in religious classes at least one year prior to starting their sacrament preparation (either with the parish or in a Catholic school). Classes will also be available for those children in grades three (3) through five (5) who have not received these Sacraments   Parents are to attend Mass regularly with their children.

Parental classes will be limited to two sessions for First Communion.  Parents are required to attend both sessions.  Each child should know the following prayers: Our Father, Hail May and Glory Be. If your have questions/concerns, please contact the Christian Formation Office at 757-877-3771

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.

The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
