Reconciliation

Reconciliation Information

COVID-19 Update:

Reconciliation is still available on Saturdays from 3:30 to 4:30 in the Day Chapel.  Please maintain an appropriate social distance by spacing out in both the day chapel and the main church.  Reconciliation is also available by appointment.  Contact the parish office for details.

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against Him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.   (ccc 1422)

General Information:

Reconciliation is scheduled every Saturday from 3:30 until 4:30 pm. or by appointment.  Parish Reconciliation Celebrations are also held during Lent and Advent.  Date and times announced in the bulletin.

First Reconciliation:

Children begin their preparation for First Reconciliation when they have entered the second grade. Children should be in religious classes at least one year prior to starting their sacrament preparation (either with the parish or in a Catholic school). For those that have passed the 2nd Grade, Special Sacramental classes will be held for those children that have missed these sacraments. Parents are to attend Mass regularly with their children.

Parental classes will be limited to one session for First Reconciliation.  Parents are required to attend this session.  Each child should know the following prayers: Our Father, Hail May and Glory Be. If your have questions/concerns, please contact the Christian Formation Office at 757-877-3771

First Communion/Reconciliation Prayers

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.

The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
