Beware Pastor Scams

Sadly this is an announcement we have to make once and a while, and while it's not unique to our parish, that doesn't make it any less upsetting.

Should you receive an email or text message from anybody purporting to be Father George and requesting your help or a donation please do not respond to it. He would not contact you asking for donations or gift cards in such a way. If you are skeptical of any communications, forward the email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call the office directly at 757-877-5021. The office staff will be more than happy to find out if the message is legitimate.

Report spam texts to your carrier. Copy the original message and forward it to 7726 (SPAM) free of charge, if you are an AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint subscriber.

These scams are not isolated events at our church only, they happen across the country and across all denominations.

The children in the painting are St. Jerome children. Names were drawn from a hat and the grand prize winner is in Jesus' embrace.

   Paul Jones was a former parishioner who was a self-taught artist who left us his legacy of amazing paintings. Paul's paintings can be found throughout the church and the Faith and Life Center. Please make a point of seeing these in person.
       

 Mary Jones

The significance of this painting is Mary was Paul's daughter, who passed away a few days before Christmas, her first birthday. The family demonstrated amazing faith during this terrible time. The three castles in the background are for Mary's parents and both sets of grandparents.

In our lives, there are moments, when only Jesus can stop our torments. Those daily struggles that burden the soul, He comes to us and makes us whole.

Oh Jesus, calm the winds of fear we hide. Smooth the waves of greed and pride.Calm our storms of anger and hate.

Calm the storms that dim our sight, that block the path to your wonderful light. Calm the storms that lead us to sin. Give us courage, peace and love within.

Let us be a witness to those we meet, the rich, the poor, the stangers on the street. Let us serve them in this great land, for they too may have storms at hand.

Until our dying day, until we finally rest, help us rise each day and do our very best. Before the rains wash our strength away. Calm our storms Lord, each and every day.
